Earlier this year we decided to take action to get answers regarding the multitude of power outages affecting the Lincoln/Broadway Corridor, primarily between 3rd and Bayaud. After getting the attention of several news outlets, and a letter writing campaign, the Public Utilities Commission has opened an investigation into the outages in our area, and other areas serviced by Xcel who have filed complaints.
The investigation is ongoing expected to be completed by early 2025. Councilwoman Alvidrez's office continues to offer support & advocacy on our behalf regarding this matter. We will update this page as we have more information (last updated 11/24/24).
We have reached out to PUC for updates: 11/14, 1/2, 1/15, 2/14, and 2/18 and have not received a reply (updated 2/18/25).
We have reached out to Westword, KDVR, 9News, and The Post to ask for a follow up story as we can not get a reply from PUC. We have asked Councilwoman Alvidrez's offive to follow up as well. (updated 2/18/25).
We have been in touch with an Xcel engineer who said the plans to replace all of the electric infrastructure between 3rd and Bayaud landed on his desk this week! No timeline yet besides "ASAP". Will update as more information becomes available! (updated 2/21/25)
“I have finished the initial design and have started the review and approval process to ensure complete and accurate project details are ready.” - from Xcel engineer planning corridor upgrades (updated 4/9)
