RE: Noise Variance Request from Kraemer North America, LLC for nighttime construction activity associated with the I-25 / Broadway Interchange Reconstruction Project.

Dear Residents and Neighborhood Organizations,

This notification is being sent to inform you that the Denver Department of Public Health and Environment (DDPHE) has received an application for a noise variance from Kraemer North America, LLC for nighttime construction work consisting of overhead traffic signal installation and removal, striping removal and application, placement of concrete bridge girders for the new I-25 southbound entrance ramp, and sanitary sewer bypass pumping operations. This project is located within the City County of Denver. Noise variances are necessary when nighttime construction work is being proposed and noise levels above existing conditions are expected. Night work is scheduled to begin as early as September 2023. Night work will take place Monday through Thursday from 9PM to 5AM. The project will require approximately 30 nights of nighttime work and will be completed no later than May 31, 2024. The noisiest task is expected to be pavement striping removal. More specifically the operations expected to produce significant noise are sand blasting, and pavement grinding. DDPHE is working with the applicant to address noise concerns. The Board of Public Health and Environment (BPHE) will convene at an upcoming meeting to discuss and then approve/deny this variance request. For further details regarding upcoming BPHE meetings please visit BPHE’s web site at https://www.denvergov.org/Government/Departments/Public-Health-Environment/About-Us/Board- of-Public-Health-Environment . To reach BPHE staff for further details regarding upcoming BPHE meetings please e-mail BPHE@denvergov.org .
